Guided tour of the historic center and panoramic walk along the arches (1 hour and 30 minutes).

A hill overlooking the splendid waters of the Adriatic Sea, shaped like the prow of a ship.  This is the historic center of Silvi Alta (or Silvi Paese), one of the most charming corners to discover in the “land of Abruzzo.”

From Largo della Porta square, crossing the ancient medieval arch, you immerse yourself in a timeless atmosphere, among alleys and small squares waiting to tell their tales.

The beautiful church of Santissimo Salvatore is a treasure trove, with its majestic Romanesque structure encapsulating the artistic and historical identity of this “enchanted place.”

Continuing on Corso Umberto I, you reach the splendid Belvedere della Loggia, a breathtaking panoramic setting among the most beautiful in the region.

The experience concludes in the village with a panoramic walk along the arches: built starting from 1934 and intermittently over several decades, they now appear as an imposing crown supporting the village.

Upon request, the experience can be complemented with an aperitif at the end of the tour with an additional fee.

Guided tour of the historic center, panoramic walk along the arches (2 hours) + The Path of Splendor.

Silvi Paese is a treasure trove of artistic, historical, and scenic beauties. Its wealth of traditions, stories, and legends is equally rich, waiting to be discovered and relived through this walk.

After exploring the marvelous historic center with its medieval arch, the splendid Romanesque church of Santissimo Salvatore, Corso Umberto with its narrow alleys and squares, and the Belvedere with a stroll along the arches, you will descend along the Path of Splendor.

This short stretch leads to the Chapel of Splendor, a place surrounded by greenery. The chapel, built in the 1930s based on the design by Marquis Giuseppe De Torres, appears as a shrine in squared stones and houses a statue of Madonna dello Splendore. The façade is characterized by a tall central portal with the inscription “Semper splendeat” (May it always shine).

In addition to being an important place of worship, the chapel is linked to the legend of Lu Ciancialon, a popular folk festival in honor of San Leone, still deeply celebrated today.

Every year, it is relived on the last Sunday of May by lighting a towering bonfire made of reeds in the square, prepared in the preceding days.

The story tells of the courage of a young man named Leone, who, inspired by San Leone, managed to thwart an assault by the Turks in 1566. As the invaders ascended from the port of Cerrano towards the village, the boy lit a bundle of reeds that miraculously grew to prodigious dimensions, enough to scare away the enemies and save the beloved Silvi. The exact point where the torch turned into a miraculous fire corresponds to the Chapel of Splendor.
